The rider and choreographer Bartabas publishes a story, self-portrait through the history of the horses that marked his life

An exceptional performer, director, choreographer, Bartabas invented a new form of live performance: equestrian theatre. We remember Elegies, who evoked the genocide, the religious feeling, the autodafé, of Calacas, who spawned with the desolation of men subjected to the violence of the States, of Caravaggio, a moment of intimacy at dawn between man and animal. And so many others from the Zingaro adventure (name of the company), from Aubervilliers Fort to Istanbul, via Tokyo, New York, Moscow, Avenches.

Bartabas wrote From one horse to another in homage to his brothers of souls, those who for forty years have been on the trail, poets by his side, while cavalcades, breaths, silences and antics. They are called Quinoxe, Lautrec, Soutine, Micha Figa, Angelo, Dolaci, Horizonte, etc. He loves them all but prefers those with a painful past, the undying, those dedicated to butchery like the Argentinean criollos, black and white, whom he saved in extremis.
